I can help you nail your launch

Hackchaton by Kevin Granger

Launching on Product Hunt is a great way to introduce your product to a large, very engaged community of early adopters, product savants, investors, indiemakers, and enthusiasts.

It can accelerate your growth and help you rally your existing audience to spread the word about your product. As with most community marketing strategies, you get out what you put in when it comes to launching on Product Hunt.

I make myself available to help you navigate the launch process — from the moment you think a launch might be right for you to the point where you’ve got all your materials prepared and want one final review from an experienced, objective observer. I’ve done it all, seen it all, and helped thousands of makers nail their launches.

Let me help you.

FAQs

What’s your experience with Product Hunt?

I’ve been on Product Hunt since 2014. I’ve hunted over 4000 products. I use Product Hunt to discover new trends, find cool products, and share great apps and services that I discover. I have a positive relationship with the Product Hunt team and get support when necessary.

What strategies do you use to maximize upvotes?

Many makers want to “win the leaderboard,” but that’s not my focus. I believe a successful Product Hunt strategy pays off over time. I’m more interested in helping you connect with potential customers than focusing on a vanity metric. This approach often wins top spots.

Do you provide support on launch day?

I’m usually available on launch day, cheering you on from the stands. It’s your race to run. If something’s off, I’m there to help adjust or resolve issues.

How do you change your approach for different product types?

Every maker has a journey to share and every product has its own narrative to shape. I approach every launch as a unique effort to clarify and communicate why anyone should pay attention and care, regardless of product category.

Best day, date, and time to launch?

Tuesday at 12:01 AM PST.

Just kidding!

The best day, date, and time to launch depend on your goals, audience, and product. As engagement on Product Hunt has evolved, so have the reasons to make choices appropriate to the outcomes you seek. One size fits all results in a bloodbath on the leaderboard. Your best bet is to steer clear of that mess and pick a date and time that will help you stand out.

Can you help me prepare for my launch?

I can, and I charge for my time. I don’t charge to hunt products.

If I pay for a call, will you be my hunter?

Maybe! If you pay for a call, I will support your launch efforts, often by serving as your hunter. But since I don’t charge to hunt products, booking a call with me doesn’t guarantee I’ll be your hunter. Ethically build a great product, and there’s a good chance I’ll volunteer to be your hunter.

What makes your coaching unique?

I’ve seen a lot of products and coached over 700 makers on 1:1 calls. No one matches my product launch experience on Product Hunt.

I’ve been a founder, worked in Big Tech on product and developer platform teams, open source and open standards, built grassroots communities, and invested as an angel and venture capitalist. These perspectives are present in my calls.

What’s the most common mistake makers make?

The top issue makers contact me about is being neck and neck with so-and-so on the leaderboard and needing “a few more upvotes.” I’m dismayed to hear this because the best strategy in these battles is better preparation. Without a time machine, there’s not much you can do besides hustle your ass off to solicit support (Product Hunt prohibits asking for or incentivizing upvotes). More outreach before launch — especially using a preview page that teases your upcoming product — will reduce launch day stress.
